Slave Rebellion Experience

What we’ll do:

Tacky, an enslaved African led the most dangerous slave rebellion in the British Empire.

His warriors, ravaged, maimed and killed to control territory and establish a political legacy free from bondage.

The rebellion burned Jamaica for more than a year.

Many of his adherents committed suicide, others were deported and the ruling council were slaughtered.

Tacky's name is only whispered and his legacy is purposely left out of educational agendas but he will never be forgotten among his army's descendants in St. Mary - where the rebellion started.

The blood of the African men and women who fought by his side runs through us and for that we are ancestrally proud.

I am honored to share his legacy by taking you on a tour of his bloody resistance against the  British Empire in the hope that you say his name when you return to your respective countries.

About Nadine:

I am descended from the Esher plantation in St. Mary, one of the original sites that joined Tacky in his more than a year-long rebellion against the British Empire.

I can trace my African roots back five generations in Esher and Highgate.

As a child I was regaled with stories of Tacky and his African warriors.

I was taken to Tacky Falls where I was taught to ask for his guidance and strength to protect me on my impending journeys around the world.

I am grateful for my family and community for keeping his legacy alive and look forward to sharing his political acumen and strategic military brilliance with you.
